Apuse' diciptakan oleh seorang asal Papua Irian Jaya yang tidak diketahui nama jelasnya. Lagu ini mengisahkan tentang perpisahan seorang cucu dengan kakek neneknya.

Cucu tersebut berpamitan karena hendak pergi merantau yaitu ke Teluk Doreri di Manokwari.

Lagu Apuse kemudian di kenal di tinggkat nasional. Lagu ini memiliki irama yang indah dan sederhana sehingga lagu ini sering dipelajari dalam pelajaran kesenian di tingkat Sekolah Dasar.

Mungkin tidak ada rakyat Indonesia yang tidak pernah mendengar lagu ini. sampai saat ini pun masih dinyayikan oleh siswa/ siswi SD dan SMP bahkan masyarakat umum.

Irama lagu daerah dari Papua (Biak) ini juga dipakai tiap kali timnas sepakbola Indonesia akan bertanding dengan mengubah liriknya. "Garuda di Dadaku"
